When playing a game alot, there comes a time when some units are forgotten about and much like those old Star Wars figures and toys - gather dust, never to be seen again.
Playing a game like Empire at War is no different and I am sure that when you play - you either don't construct certain buildings, or think that some units just are not worth the outlay in credits. However, some units are essential and I feel that both ground and space battles benefit from the Officer. Although a slow unit to produce, the process can be sped up if you select a planet to churn them out from and building around 3 or 4 Academys. |
When you look at the bigger picture, the inital cost of the Officer is small and the bonus he can bring to your units can make the difference between defeat or victory - vital, if you are to expand. A 25% health bonus and sight bonus means not only will your units last that little bit longer but gives you a vital edge when you are about to fall under attack. Those extra few pixels on the map means that you get to 'fire first' and if you target a hard point on a ship, for example - could inflict some important damage early in the exchange. The next time you start up EaW, test out your attacks with and without an Officer and you will see just how important this guy is to your forces.... |
